Why did I trust him? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'll find my dresses in one of the boxes, buried under some books. I should never have listened to WG. I was supposed to go to Seattle September 9th. I had the tickets and it was all set. We were going to go through all our things together and split them up. Take things to Goodwill. I was going to help him move. I was going to take him to his oral surgery appointment. I was going to put together furniture for him in his new apartment. I was going to spend some time with Monte kitty to say goodbye. He called me and asked me not to come. He'd send me my things. Why did I trust him? Current Mood: angry and hurt |

Fucking crossdressers. I just discovered that WG kept both of my stretch velvet cocktail dresses, the deep blue one and the black one. That's just beyond the pale. He went through my stuff and just decided what he wanted to keep. Regardless of whose it was. Current Mood: stunned |

Extremely short Meta Sometimes, disliking a female character has nothing to do with being misogynist. Sometimes, one just doesn't find them likable regardless of their gender. Other times, one dislikes them because the author's own misogyny shows through the character. Current Mood: annoyed |

Recs Collection Post This year snarry_holidays will be collecting links to send into the HP newsletter, the daily_snitch, for both Hot Art and Hot Recs. Fic and art need three recs to qualify (can be posted on IJ, LJ, DW, or JF) and must not be locked. If you see or make any recs for any of this round's gifts, please leave them in the comments on this post. The mods will be on the lookout, too, but we might miss something! Thanks for your help! |

IT'S TIME: SNARRY HOLIDAYS STARTS TODAY! For many people it's a stressful (if lovely) time of year, and snarry_holidays is ready to insert that special bit of Snarry into your holiday season. ;-) We'll kick start our posting tonight at 9pm EST, so please stick around if you can! Some notes before we begin:
-- We will start posting today (yay!) December 1, and posting will run until December 23. snarry_holidays will be posting this year at InsaneJournal, LiveJournal, and Dreamwidth. You may comment to any of the sites, though commenting on IJ is encouraged, if possible. -- With around 60 submissions, we will be posting an average of two gifts per day (a mix of fic and art, of course) with several days of three gifts. We will do our best to space out long fics so that everyone doesn't become too overwhelmed. -- If you are participating and you have an extension, please keep us updated and get your gift to us ASAP. If we have not heard from you at all, you might be in trouble! *waves modly stick* -- Thanks so much to elethian, who has agreed to help us proofread! -- Please remember that feedback and comments are very much encouraged. That being said, please attempt to keep your comments cordial. We know people have strong feelings about Snarry and writing, fic and art, but please play nicely (i.e. no flaming, say something constructive). If you have any questions about what this might constitute, email us at snarryholiday [at] gmail [dot] com. We'll be reading all the comments. -- We're going to be collecting recs for daily_snitch, so please send us links to your fic and art recs! We're collecting the recs at this post, on IJ. Fic and art need three recs (not locked) to qualify. -- Please spread the word! We hope everyone enjoys the all the lovely Snarry coming in the next few weeks! Thanks to all the hard work on behalf of the participants! Current Mood: excited |

Story: "Terrific Two's Summer of Mystery!", for skitty-kat Title: Terrific Two's Summer of Mystery! For: skitty-kat From: Your Secret Snupin Santa Rated: NC17 Summary: Prompt: An Enid Blyton-style porn fic. It's the summer hols and there are adventures to be had! There are mountains to climb, islands to explore and caves to be delved into and for two young men it is the summer of their sexual awakening. Amid ginger beer, ham sandwiches and good clean fun (while dressed in jerseys, shorts and rubber-soled shoes) Remus and Severus discover more to life than hidden passageways *ahem*, buried treasure *ahem* and getting one's mouth round a juicy pork pie *ahem*. Whoever knew you could have so much fun in a tent? Bonus points for criminals with revolvers! (they always have revolvers) Warnings: poorly rendered British regional accents, and perhaps not quite as porny as you might have liked. Notes: Apologies to Susan Cooper, Arthur Ransom, "The Comic Strip Presents..." and anyone who actually knows Cornwall. No apologies to Enid Blyton, however. (An excellent prompt skitty! I'm still tempted by the Flash Gordon one, as well. How can you go wrong with a villain called Emperor Voldeming?) Word count: 8107 |

Fic! I posted fic! accioslash requested that I save Thicker Than Water for santas_lap, since that fest wasn't getting a lot of love this year, so I've made it my first entry into the fest. Finally, my LLM fic is delivered only 11 months late. Please heed the warnings! In other news, anyone wanting stuff from Antemortem Arts or my Etsy shop can mention this post and get 20% off through tomorrow (as a refund). Updates I just realised my last post (before the wishlist thingy) was over a month ago! So updates.... - The TB test was positive. Really, Wtf. Even the Dr's we've seen were Wtf, where'd you get that from? Fortunately not in a contagious state, but still needs treating.
- Am working on ABP. Really! I am determined to get an update out before the end of the year. And hopefully get back to some kind of posting schedule after that.
- Was rationing meds. Got that problem fixed for the year. Feeling better.
- Tramadol increased from 90 per month to 240 per month. Feeling much better.
- I did 2 holiday fan exchanges (Snarry holidays and Snapely holidays)! Got them both in way before deadline. And I don't hate them! (A couple flaws jump out at me of course, but I think that's normal for artists). Digital art, but I'm hoping this translates to more inspiration for actual painting on canvas.

Minestrone Title: Takes the Cake Author/Artist: Arionrhod, MacKay Excerpt: With a pen containing an edible ink, Remus began to carefully write out on the delicate paper his recipe for minestrone soup, a time consuming task, but one that he thought would be well worth the effort.Commentary: Well, it is self-evident why I chose this recipe, isn't it? And this recipe of "Minestrone con Pesto" is one of my favourites, I thought it could well be Remus' too. The instructions are a bit long, I doubt they would fit on a small piece of rice paper, but maybe he was summarizing it! A quick hello and a big ol' NCIS rec It's been a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! The big meal went really well, and I had a good time at work on Friday morning. Nothing like working all by yourself in a quiet building. When I ran out of work, I watched videos on the laptop and played games. If I could, I think I'd work third shift much more often. Friday, though I didn't plan to, I did some shopping and got quite a lot done in a very short amoutn of time. Son G's birthday is in a couple weeks, and I was able to find the Wii game he wanted at Target, along with some inexpensive movies for stocking stuffers and the remainder of the overseas gifts. Yesterday, I started working on what will eventually be the coat closet in the dining room. Had to pause with that; the walls were badly stained, so we put a couple coats of Kilz paint on it and let it sit overnight. I worked on the closet in my own room instead, and fixed it so the things I use all the time (yoga clothing, sweats and old shirts for hanging around the house) were in the shelves on the floor and the rest of the infrequently used stuff was up on the high shelves. It makes me happy to have that fixed; all the clothing used to fall down on my head when I pulled out a sweatshirt or a pair of yoga pants. Last night, at the end of doing laundry a few minutes after midnight, the phone rang. It was my coworker; I'd forgotten that I was supposed to go in to the office at midnight for one last shift before the new employee starts! I was at the office by twenty past twelve. Slept a bit this morning when I got home, then packed up the overseas holiday gifts so I can mail them tomorrow. The cherry on top of the weekend was finding an NCIS AU slave!fic by seleneheart at the raselgethi community. (Minxie, are you getting this?) It's long, satisfying, beautifully written, hot as the blazes, and a perfect AU for Gibbs. If you like powerplay fic at all, at all, go read this one. It's the good crack, and there's looking like several follow-on stories, too! Also, in "The Nigerian Job," the Leverage team drinks out of "Leverage Consultants and Associates" coffee mugs. WANT!!! |

Recipe Project: Rosemary Focaccia Title: TrothAuthor: celandinebExcerpt: It wasn't a wizarding restaurant, nor even a particularly high-class Muggle establishment for that matter. Cheap and mediocre Italian was the cuisine on offer, but the place close by and perfectly adequate for the days when neither of them felt like cooking. Severus confessed to liking the tagliatelle alla bolognese, while Remus was fond of the bread basket placed on every table. The owner's son was the baker, and the bread was always hot, fresh, and delicious. Commentary: Bread. Good Italian bread with rosemary - how can you go wrong? And I would totally have Remus's response to Severus, having been fed this bread first. (Well, I would anyhow, but you know what I mean. Recipe Project: Cheese and Onion Pie Title: Breaking Bread TogetherAuthor: celandinebExcerpt: Remus glanced down and realised that he had reached across the table and taken Severus's hand in his enthusiasm. It was warm and bony and he could feel the calluses on Severus's skin before he hastily let go, murmuring an apology. To cover his embarrassment, he took a sip of wine. Severus had already had a bottle open, and it was excellent. They changed conversational topics to the less sensitive one of Quidditch as they ate the main course, another dish that Remus had never had and that Severus called a quiche. It was a sort of an egg pie, with bacon and onions and cheese mixed into the egg, and seasoned with subtle herbs as well. Like the rest of the meal, the flavour was simply marvellous, so much so that Remus was unembarrassed about asking for a second slice. Accompanying the quiche were cooked tomatoes, their sweet acidity complementing its richness. Severus, not having taken an additional helping, finished eating first, and watched Remus as he ate his last few bites, again with that inscrutable expression on his face. Remus's breath quickened under the heated gaze, and when he laid down his knife and fork, aligning them neatly on his plate, he ran his tongue over his lips to see how Severus would react. Commentary: Again, not exactly what Severus cooked, but I don't make real quiches. *g* This onion pie has onions and cheese and tomatoes (although no bacon) so it's kind of a combination of the two dishes mentioned in the story. Recipe Project: Russian Potato Soup Title: Breaking Bread TogetherAuthor: celandinebExcerpt: Remus stood uncertainly in the kitchen doorway, watching Severus bustle around. His movements were deft and sure and altogether he gave off a rather depressing air of competence. Well, he had been first in their class in Potions every year, doubtless earning an Outstanding N.E.W.T., and cooking wasn't perhaps so different from potion making, when you got down to it. He didn't like to interrupt Severus's concentration and so he stood silently as Severus worked. "You could carry these to the table now, if you would." Severus indicated the several bowls and dishes that were ready, and Remus gladly complied. "It all looks marvellous," he complimented Severus as they sat down. Severus flushed. "Thank you." They began with three oysters on the half shell each, something that Remus had never before eaten, but which to his surprise he found delicious. The starter was followed by a light yellow soup, potato, he thought, but with something else as well, and bits of what he guessed might be mushroom, woody and complex in flavour. "This never came out of a tin, did it?" Remus asked, although he was certain in his own mind as to the answer. "Is it difficult? Do you have a recipe?" Not that he himself was much of a cook, but for something like this, he would be willing to put in more effort. "My own invention," Severus muttered. "No recipe. Er. How is new your job going?" Commentary: The color of this soup is very much what I imagined the soup Severus makes in the fic to have looked like, although there are no mushrooms in this recipe and certainly no aphrodisiac herbs! Quickie Mod Post, lots of reminders! There is exactly one set of Snape/Lupin offerings in hp_art_tales, and it's mine. Submissions close today (November 29). The first point has been awarded in Stuff the Stockings! Remember, you have to go back to the main post and leave a link if you've been advertising snupin_santa for the contest. Don't forget, there are fabulous prizes at stake, including your own copy of Chocolate & Asphodel, v. 2. (While you're waiting for the exchange to start, you might consider perusing C&A2 and offering some comments to the contributors) The Recipe Challenge is drawing to a close. November 30 is the last day for posts on the community. After that, it will be up to drusillas_rain's discretion if she'll accept e-mailed entries as she works on compiling the book. Be sure to read over McKay's " Coming Soon" post for Snupin_Santa. There's lots of good information there, especially if you plan on participating in Stuff the Stockings. There are some new holiday icons here from whitestar, but artists, we're still looking for more. In fact, Whitestar has offered to add her iconing touch to any art I can send her, so consider submitting some art soon if you want to see it receive the delux icon treatment. ~_^ If you're involved in the Print Calendar project, your art is due December 15, don't forget in all the holiday madness! Speaking of calendars, I'm going to go ahead and remind you to switch to December's desktop calendar now. The art is by the very fun, very talented tripperfunster, and it should be very useful in such a busy month! Finally, I want to thank all of the members here for being such great, generous participants in the community. There's been lots of searches and requests lately, and I'm seeing many new and different members speaking up to help out or volunteer. I'll never stop saying this - you are the reason this community continues to be a warm and friendly place for Lupin/Snape fans, and you're each wonderful and invaluable. Thank you all! LJ-only users, please forgive me for not making a post with LJ links, but I promise you that all the posts linked here have a LJ equivalent post. I'm just super-rushed because company is on my doorstep! snupin_santa in less than two days! EEEE! love, lore |

Update Takes the Cake by Arionrhod and McKay has been updated with another chapter. It's up to ~32,000 words. Non-magical AU, rated R. Note: I realize this story is being updated more slowly than our collaborations usually are. It is finished, but I'm the one who does the editing and posting of our collaborations, and I'm not withholding it on purpose to make people wait for more; I'm editing and updating as I can after being body-slammed by the usual end-of-semester grading madness plus an unexpected RL event that has eaten up what little free time I have at present. I promise I will get the remainder edited and posted as soon as I can. However, I'd appreciate understanding and patience, rather than pointed comments about withholding feedback/ratings/whatever because it isn't finished. Thanks very much! |
